Kundalini is another word for soul, "your" soul and means coiled at the base. Kundalini splinters off from Divine Source and it is said that Kundalini takes million of incarnations to reach human form. Kundalini begins as a thread of divine light around which the dynamics of energy and matter magnetize and arrange into forms. In you and me, Kundalini, the essence of being, is embodied and described as being coiled around 3 1/2 times in the base of the spine. After a long journey identifying with the human form and soul goes back home to Source, the original ocean of bliss and joy (Sat Chit Ananda “truth is consciousness is bliss”). Kundalini is the potential of creative energy in life. Kundalini is often referred to as Shakti, creative power of the feminine as all embodied souls are considered "feminine".
With each human incarnation the Kundalini thread spirals down taking root in the womb of woman in the union of sperm and ovum. Kundalini, the soul, develops several stages of incarnation starting with the central nervous system. Kundalini morphs the zygote, embryo and fetus, manifesting the chakras and their inherent physical counterparts (organs and glands) into being. These stages retrace millions of years of evolutionary development and learning through embodiment and bring to each incarnation, impressions of past lives. The impressions of the past lives are for the most part, the unfinished business of habits and actions and the exhibition of talents and shortcomings. Soul through its journey may embody forms in other worlds or dimensions. Kundalini (souls) may transmigrate together in groups or pairs, as when family members reincarnate in the same time and place to hash it out as different actors on the stage of life to work out unresolved issues. It is said that Earth is an intersection and learning ground for ascent back to origin, infinite and limitless Source.
A baby the most common denominator of humanity emerges an embodied soul whereby a life of potential, of further development and learning will be written. If you have ever observed newborns, it very much appears by the constant facial expressions that range from horror to bliss to surprise to amusement etc. that they are reviewing and witnessing previous life impressions. The soul is also in review of the life tasks ahead. Most people do not remember being born. From birth into life is a transition time where a veil is cast and the intervals of non physical realms are forgotten. By several months of embodiment, the crown chakra closes. The soft spot on the crown of the head closes, and the pineal gland which served as a beacon to home the soul has fulfilled its function. You may notice how babies are generally bubbly and happy, they drool and look you in the eye with no self consciousness (a habit that might get an adult locked up). As a human being goes forward in the manifested life, Kundalini (soul) identifies and is entrenched more and more in the material realm ever cocooning into the layers of life experience and identification.
This journey of the soul and its descent into the realm of body, mind, and heart is governed by the universal laws and forces of time and space such as the law that states: every action has an equal and opposite reaction, or cause and effect. These laws become the articles of contract; whether one is born a boy, girl, a victor, a victim and all the possibilities. They check all activity and the growth of conscious awareness through life’s comparative studies and learning. From this activity and comparative study precipitates the wisdom of the universal vibration of Divine intelligence which has been ever present since the beginning of time and until the end of time. In embodiment, Kundalini (soul) is self identified through the senses, desire, and habits perceiving itself bound by time, space and the tattvas, (elements). When soul expands in enough divine intelligence there is a remembrance of the reality of original Source. By this remembrance and longing the soul makes its way back to the original state and communion with that Source. That is the journey, Kundalini Yoga.
